I have recently done an engine and trans swap on this car. The engine and trans are from the same 93 cavalier. The engine is a 3.1 liter. The car ran and drove fine for about 15 minutes then started to surge. While taking off from a stop light after the surging started i would have to rev the engine to 4000 rpm's before the car would begin to move. When it would move it takes about 1/2 mile to get to 40 mph while the engine is at 4000 rpm's. But once it is at that speed it drives like a champ. While it is accelerating it does not appear to be shifting gears. It is an automatic trans. I know the trans is in good working order because it came out of a 93 cavalier that my wife owned. When I got the car home and was attempting to back it into our spot I put the car in reverse and it died. Now it will not even crank. The battery is fully charged. About 2 weeks ago I did put a new shifter cable in the car. While I had an assistant shift the car from gear to gear inside the car I looked at where the cable connects to the trans and it was not moving. I am wondering if I got a defective cable from the parts store. Any help on this issue would be extremely helpful.
Thanks, Jason --> |
