Since our CharityCar program is run by an auto recycler for auto recyclers - the cars get recycled!

When we get a charity car we drain all the harmful fluids (recycle what we can), take out the mercury switches and take off any parts we can recycle. Then we crush the car and have it shredded for recycling. So 95% of the cars that are donated to charity get recycled.

Good movement to start with...
It would really help charities by donating the old cars.
Though a small difference it hardly brings but as whole it is countable...

That's good suggestion to help charities with your old car.Making the choice to dispose of your vehicle in an environmentally safe way that benefits a charity in your neighborhood is one of the best decisions you could make – feel good and help those facing some of life’s most difficult challenges and even end up saving money on your next tax return.

I donated my old '89 Honda Accord LX-i to charity after the head gasket blew. The repair costs were about the same as the entire value of the car, and quite frankly, the great feeling I got after donating to a worthy cause was better than keeping a clunker.

Thanks to all those that donated and support this idea!

Donating your car to charity is really one of those rare Win-Win-Win-Win situations, the charity wins with a donation, the planet wins by recycling, the auto recycler wins by possibly getting some parts for inventory and the donor wins by getting a tax receipt and feeling good!

This could be. Even it cannot be repaired but still there are some parts of the car that can still be use or can be sold to anyone who need it.. so even the car is not working it can be donated too.. ^_^

Got to agree with Cargo there; there's no shame in donating cars for spare parts. Every bit counts, no matter how small.
